strider posted Ah, HL 2 at 2004-11-16 22:31:12
Good ol` HL2. Coming out over a year after it was supposed to. I could`ve gotten it today (CD version, of course - although they aren`t supplying a manual. Not that it`s needed, but it`s a nice thing to have), but I figure I`ll try getting it on the 6th anniversary of me getting the original - Christmas. Then I might get a chance to play it on the 7th anniversary, when I finally get it working. Then again, DOOM 3 I got working within the hour on `98 (bit of Hex editing and it worked fine - good going id). I hear HL2 is pretty good, but I was hoping it`d be less linear than the original, which apparently isn`t the case. A shame... but I suppose that`s the way to sort out the story without letting people miss loads of stuff. I suppose my main concern is the hardware requirements - I ran DOOM 3 fine, even better with the latest graphics card driver, and DOOM 3 seems like it`s a more advanced engine (it doesn`t have the obvious physics engine and the impressive graphics might not be as noticeable because DOOM 3`s virtually pitch black, but those don`t make an engine more advanced), plus HL2 was said to be able to run on my PC from 6 years ago (Valve lying again?)... but I have games which were made years ago that still don`t run on this damn PC. Also you shouldn`t miss Vampire: the Masquerade: Bloodlines. It uses HL2`s engine, but it`s got some good bloodsucking f(r)iends of mine - Vampires (hence the title, oddly). Actually... few good games you could get. Halo 2? Pfft (an unimpressed `pfft` at that).

I wonder how long news posts can be on here. So, I got up... 10 hours ago, after about 5 hours of sleep... probably less. Why? Concern about our fates. I presume no one`s heard of "Project for a New American Century", and that`s why we`re in this situation, so I figured they`re worth a mention. They`re what I`d call (quite seriously) a neo-fascist think tank which has been in effect running the US through Bush. Their membership includes Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, Reagan (wait, he`s dead!), and others. They want to increase US power through a variety of means with the basic end aims of 1. making sure the US is the only superpower worth its status and 2. keeping US society structured and together with the elites at the top. Methods they have talked about using include stuff like bioweapons which target certain types of genetic structures, so they could release a virus which kills primarily, for example, Chinese people (who tend to share certain genetics), with little thread to other groups, they promote developing smaller strategic nukes, and stuff like bombers which can touch space, fly around the planet, bomb somewhere, then come back (next generation B-52s), and domestic policies including supporting religion as a method of population control, lying to the population to make them support stuff they wouldn`t do otherwise, and even incorporate some Nazi idealogies, like "give the public an enemy to distract them from you abusing them". They`d been advocating invading Iraq since `93, but readily supported Saddam Hussein during his war against Iran and even when he was gassing the Kurds (actually selling him BC weapons). They supported the Contras, the Taliban (actually put them in power) and al Quada. When I say `they`, I mean the members of PNAC, not necessarily the group, which I think is under 20 years old. This group clearly has no problem with doing whatever the hell it feels will make themselves and their nation more powerful or put it in a better position. It feels threatened by China and the possibility of a European superstate, also doesn`t like the reliance on Mid. Eastern oil supply, and occupying oil-rich nations isn`t a bad idea to make sure the oil keeps flowing. Well, I could go on like this for a while. Sufficed to say, these are the people who would be running the US if Bush actually wins, which I`m still hoping won`t happen. Given another 4 years of power, we might see things in general getting a lot worse, with the US possibly instituting a draft and going nuts invading where it thinks would be beneficial. Targets might include Iran, Syria, N. Korea (although they actually have got at least nukes, so it might be too dangerous to try), Venezuela, etc. China and the EU wouldn`t exactly be able to be best friends with the US, especially China, which is just a superpower in waiting. In the US there might be less civil liberties, more drug abuse (of the bad kind, not the arguably harmless kind), stuff like that

strider posted Maybe you shouldn`t mention that... at 2004-06-15 21:32:23
So openly. You know, might make your current host not happy, then they might come after you with hammers or clubs or something. Perhaps they`ll come after you with hammers *and* clubs *and* *something* - all three. All I`m saying is, if you`re attacked by anyone, it`s definitely your hosts, not anyone else. Got that, pigs?

strider posted I thought I`d mention... at 2003-10-06 20:36:39
That when the oil starts running low in a few years, you probably won`t have the money or means to waste the planet`s resources like that. So, you`d better waste faster!

strider posted I won a prize? at 2003-08-29 21:14:06
EDIT: Forget it. I should be in again on Monday, I was at my worst on Tuesday and now I`m just constantly *really* knackered, but I`m getting better.

strider posted And I thought I had problems at 2003-08-25 21:42:42
Really, wabbit, you`re more messed up in the head than me. Really, you might want to get some help or something. There`s a great little place called *Innsmouth* you could try. Lovely place, great for helping people like you. In New England, US. Bit

strider posted It`s like you`re trying to get eaten at 2003-08-25 18:59:41
I think that picture mocks our lord and master, the god Cthulhu. Really, you`re going to get us all in trouble if you pull that sort of stunt.

strider posted Not so much weird, at 2003-08-24 20:37:14
More that it goes against the natural order of things. It`s an abomination. Like some freakish human-frog creature. Does the site endorse Cthulhu-worshiping demons now? Uh-oh, it`s already getting too long

strider posted I didn`t know I *could* post... at 2003-08-24 19:16:11
Even if there *was* a readme, I didn`t see it, and even if I *did* see it, I wouldn`t`ve read it. Kind of a weird system, see. Plus, I accidently registered while trying to access my e-mail, which you so conveniently tried to hide. And I`m registering

strider posted You didn`t force me into it... at 2003-08-24 08:37:50
And I registered before Gibb. The real question is, `who is cap?`.
